Random Thoughts - Oct. 16, 2008

Just some random thoughts- hope everyone is doing well!

1. Tried a new recipe today for bread- it was an easy recipe and tasted yummy! It was suppose to be like an English muffin loaf I guess. The yeast I used was old, so I think it didn't rise like it should have, was pretty dense. Still, hot with a butter spread it was delicious. Winter is coming and I like soup and bread together! (Unfortunately, not everyone in my family likes soup like I do!)

2. I totally soak up any praise I get! It hit me as I reread some nice comments made by a professor on a paper. It made me feel so good. Unfortunately, being a stay at home mom isn't full of praise. And at the ages of my kids it can be brutal! You still have the craziness and demands, but don't even get the hugs and love like when they were 2! (yes, I still think it's there, just more hidden) So having positive feedback from school has been nice- and shown me how needy I am!

3. In the same vein- school is going pretty well. My grades are good. I love learning. Sometimes, yes, I feel like everything is falling apart and piling up- but today anyhow, all is well. Okay- in the back of my mind I have this worry about a class that hasn't showed up as a transfer class from another college that my professor thought would. I need it to count- or else I'll be off schedule and would only be able to get back on track if that class is offered during the winter intersession and probably wouldn't be able to do that anyhow because I have something like a clinical then(except it is in a community setting). With the program I'm in the classes are only offered certain times and I don't want to get pushed back a year!! AHH!

4. Birthday parties- Jayna wants to have her party this year at Chuck E Cheeses. The kids can have a "friend" birthday party every other year. Dilemma- she has 20 kids in her class and wants to invite them all- that is really more than I'd like to pay for! However, how do you only invite some from a class when you don't have everyone's address, plus you can't stop kids from talking about it and having others feel left out. The girl only party doesn't work so well for her class because she is 1 of 4 girls in her class! Plus she really has some boys that are good friends. Anyhow- I think we'll invite everyone, but are thinking that since it is the weekend of Thanksgiving some kids will be out of town?

And so it goes...
